Bengaluru, NT Correspondent: At least four suicides were reported across the state after the Karnataka Secondary School Leaving Certificate Examination (SSLC) results were released on Thursday.

A 16-year-old student, Kushal, was found dead at his house in Davangere just before the SSLC results were released on Thursday. It was learnt that he was a student of Mavinakatte Government High School.

The parents found him hanging inside one of the rooms in the house and alerted the Channagiri police. It is suspected that he took the extreme step out of fear of failing in the exam. Further investigation is underway to determine the exact cause.

A similar incident took place in Mandya where a student, despite passing the SSLC exam, hanged herself at her house in the absence of her parents.

Amrutha, 16, a student of Poornima School in the town had scored 57% in the SSLC exam. The student was reportedly depressed that she could not achieve more than 400 marks and did not reveal her score to her parents.

When the parents returned home, they found her dead inside the house. In Maddur, a 15-year-old student ended his life after he found that he had failed in the SSLC exam.

A resident of Taggahalli village, Likhit, had gone to the school along with his friends to check his SSLC result. Realising that he has failed in the exam, a depressed Likhit went to a farm and hanged himself from a tree.
