Protests make B'luru airport cancel vehicle entry fee

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Bengaluru airport authorities have revoked the recently implemented fee policy, which required private and commercial vehicles to pay entry fee for access to the airport premises.

On Monday, some drivers allegedly engaged in heated disputes with airport personnel at the arrival pickup lane after BIAL started enforcing entry fees without a prior notification.

The decision was reversed shortly after it was announced that travel to and from Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru would incur additional costs starting Monday.

According to the earlier notification, commercial vehicles, including those operated by cab aggregators like Ola and Uber, were to pay an entry fee of Rs 150 for up to seven minutes, with the charge rising to Rs 300 if the duration exceeded seven minutes. The revised fee structure was intended for both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 of the airport.
