Minor involved in morphing lewd photos booked
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Following a swift operation, the North East Cyber Crime Division tracked and detained the youth involved in morphing and sharing nude pictures of school students on social media platforms.
The action was taken based on a complaint filed by a parent of one of the victims on May 24. The victim was a class 9 student from a prestigious CBSE school in Bengaluru. The complaint alleged that an AI-generated nude photograph of the student was being circulated on social media.
The complaint further revealed that photographs of another student from the same class were also morphed. According to sources, the images were first shared in an Instagram group chat, where approximately 20 of the student's classmates were members.
However the victim was not a part of the online group. Taking the matter seriously, the Cyber Crime police tracked the accused and detained him along with two of his accomplices, all minors. The police said that they have seized three mobile phones from the accused. A case has been registered against the trio and further investigation is on.
