Note with bomb threat found at KIA, police declare it a hoax

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: The authorities at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) were on high alert after they found a sticky note with a bomb threat message claiming that the Alfa-3 building and several blocks will explode in 25 minutes.

According to the sources from the Bengaluru Airport, the note was found in the wee hours of Wednesday in one of the washrooms in Terminal-1. Following a thorough investigation, the officials later in the day sighed a heave of relief and said the threat was a hoax.

They added that the note was found pasted on the mirror of a restroom of Terminal-1. Unidentified miscreants had left the note with a warning that the administration and staff buildings in the airport premises would be blown off.

The incident came to light when one of the staffers found the message at the Alfa-3 building's gents' restroom around 3:40 am.

The staffer immediately informed the authorities about the threat. The bomb disposal squad and the personnel of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) rushed to the spot and conducted search operations.

After combing the premises, it was declared as a hoax threat. Preliminary investigations have suggested the role of an insider in the development. However more details are yet to emerge regarding the incident.

The Kempegowda International Airport police have registered a case in this regard and taken up the investigation. While no flight operation was affected due to this incident, the authorities have intensified checking at the airport premises.
