Bengaluru: Concerned over the sudden rise in Corona and omicron cases in the State, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said a meeting with experts has been fixed for Tuesday evening to take all possible steps to contain the epidemic without affecting the normal life of people. The suggestions given by the experts would be discussed in the State Cabinet meeting to be held on Thursday.
“We are planning to take stock of the current situation in the state and plan long term measures to check the spread of the pandemic”, Bommai told reporters here on Monday. The CM said both Corona and the Omicron variant were spreading fast across the country. Since they have the experience of handling the second wave of Corona effectively, the experts have been asked to give long term suggestions that would not impact the life of the common man. A meeting with the experts has been fixed for Tuesday evening to discuss the matter.
The vaccination drive for children in the age group of 15 to 18 years has been launched in the country on Monday with a view to give protection to kids of this particular age group. The need of the hour is to bring them under ‘Suraksha Chakra’ and to achieve this, the massive vaccination drive would be held in educational institutions across the state. The cooperation of parents, teachers and healthcare workers is required to achieve success in this regard. Citizens must strictly follow Covid Appropriate Behaviour(CAB) such as wearing masks and maintaining social distance and co-operate with the government.
On the proposed Congress padayatra amidst an increase in Corona and Omicron cases, Bommai said he was closely observing the Congress party’s tactics. The rules applicable to the general public would apply to the Congress padayatra too. A decision would be taken after discussing their public behaviour, he added
