65 ambulances launched to aid accident victims in state

NT Correspondent Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah launched 65 new ambulances under the initiative 'Apatkalayana,' aimed at providing timely medical assistance to accident victims. This initiative, backed by Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao and supported by the Transport, Home, and Internal Affairs Departments, focuses on ensuring care within the critical 'Golden Hour' after a mishap. The ambulances, comprising 26 Advanced Life Support (ALS) vehicles and 39 Basic Life Support (BLS) units, will be stationed near identified accident hot spots throughout the state.

The initiative targets 65 locations with high accident rates, ensuring rapid response and support for nearby taluk and district hospitals. Each ambulance is equipped with essential medical instruments, medications, and consumables necessary for life-saving interventions. If specialised treatment is required, health department staff nurses will accompany patients to district hospitals, with provisions for ventilator support in transit.
