Fake order placement: 4 in cop net for defrauding logistics company

NT Correspondent Bengaluru: Four individuals were arrested by the CEN Police Station of the South East Division for defrauding online logistics companies by placing and canceling fake orders. The accused, Shreyas (29), Kaushik (26), Ranganath (26), and Anand Kumar (30), were apprehended. They created fake IDs in the names of customers and drivers on the Porter logistics app and paid money into the driver's wallet by placing orders to remote locations. The money was then transferred back to their bank accounts. Using geo-spoofing via VPN, they manipulated the system to show the orders were completed by the driver’s ID.

In another scheme, the accused used the customer ID to cancel orders and claimed refunds. Realizing a total loss of ?90 lakh over the last eight months, the Porter company filed a complaint with the CEN police. Police arrested the four accused based on technical information and further revealed that they had defrauded Porter in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and West Bengal using similar tactics. The defrauded money was used for house construction, luxury living, and debt repayment.

The money was then transferred back to their bank accounts. Using geo-spoofing via VPN, they manipulated the system to show the orders were completed by the driver’s ID.
