State government moots committee to deal with waterlogging

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Development Minister DK Shivakumar on Monday said that the State government was considering forming a committee to deal with waterlogging in Bengaluru. He made the comments to mediapersons before his Sadashivanagar residence in Bengaluru on Monday. The Deputy CM added that much of the flooding was in low-lying areas. “Many people have built homes in low-lying areas and they get flooded during heavy rains. We are thinking of forming a committee to find a permanent solution for this. I have discussed this with the Chief Engineer as well. I have been personally in touch with the BBMP (Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike) Control room since last night,'' Shivakumar said.
