Bengaluru Metro has experienced a remarkable increase in ridership this October, driven by the rainy season that prompted more commuters to choose the metro over waterlogged roads and heavy traffic.

The Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) recorded over 1.85 crore passengers in October 2024, an impressive rise of 32.90 lakh compared to last year. As of October 24, the cumulative passenger count for 2024 reached 15.2 crore, indicating a growing dependence on metro services among city residents.

The Majestic metro station remained the busiest transit hub, with the highest footfall. In parallel, BMRCL has extended the deadline for public feedback on a proposed 20% fare hike to October 28. Although public sentiment is largely against the increase, officials cite rising operational costs and demand as key factors for the proposal.
This surge in ridership has also resulted in substantial revenue growth.
