Don’t need lockdown to fight Covid: Sudhakar
NT Correspondent
Bengaluru: Ruling out the possibility of a complete lockdown, Health Minister Dr K. Sudhakar said there was no such proposal before the government as lockdowns are a policy of the past.
Talking to reporters here, Dr Sudhakar admitted that there is a surge in Corona and Omicron cases in Karnataka but added that a lockdown is not the best option to tackle it. The government now has a different strategy thanks to the experience of handling the virus since March 2020. In the past, the government had locked down the state since it did not know how to handle the pandemic.
Corona cases are increasing in six districts- Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Mandya, Mysuru, Udupi and Kolar. The Case Positivity Rate stands at 3.95 per cent which is quite low compared to the national average.
