KL Shrijith and Yashovardhan Parantap capped off a memorable display in their maiden Ranji Trophy match, as Karnataka maintained a solid lead against Uttar Pradesh at the Ekana Stadium on Thursday. Shrijith’s century may have cemented his place as Karnataka’s wicketkeeperbatter— his shot selection and composure at the crease have drawn praise from fans, with some feeling he has finally filled a long-standing gap in the team. Before he could build on his resilient ton, Shivam Mavi had other ideas, as Shrijith was caught behind by UP skipper and wicketkeeper Aryan Juyel. Another standout knock came from debutant Yashovardhan Parantap, who, after scoring a century against UP in the U-23 final earlier this year, continued his good form to stabilize Karnataka's innings.
Karnataka posted a respectable total of 275, taking a lead of 186. The hosts’ second innings went much better than their first, ending Day 2 on 78/1. However, V Koushik, with the new ball, was yet to claim a wicket despite his efforts." Brief scores: Karnataka 275 all out in 79.5 overs(K L Shrijith 110, Yashovardhan Parantap 55, Aaqib Khan 3/53) Uttar Pradesh 89; 40.3 overs (Sameer Rizvi 25; Vasuki Kaushik 5/20) and 78/1 (Aryan Juyal) Stumps Day 2, Karnataka lead UP by 106 runs.
