Richmond Town came alive yesterday with the vibrant RichLang Habba, a community festival that celebrated sustainability, local talent, and ethical practices. Held at Richmond Town Park from 9 am to 4 pm, the event was organised by the Citizen Welfare Association of Richmond and Langford Town. Originally starting as a small monthly farmers' market 18 months ago, the event has grown into a lively community gathering. This year, RichLang Habba featured a variety of stalls that provided local entrepreneurs and start-up founders with the perfect platform to showcase their products and connect with potential customers. Vivek Chand, an active member of the Citizen Welfare Association of Richmond and Langford Town, shared with News Trail, “The whole event is organised as a green event in partnership with Harisu Dala.
We have steel plates and tumblers, without any plastic. We also have several green sustainable products in our stall.” True to its commitment to sustainability, the RichLang Habba embraced a zero-waste approach by serving food in reusable steel utensils in partnership with Harisuru Dala and Adhamya Chetana. Attendees were encouraged to bring their bottles, bags and containers to reduce waste. Eco-friendly vendors, such as Akr’s Eco Shop, and Earthen Being showcased handcrafted sustainable natural products.
The festival had something for everyone, with activities ranging from shopping with local entrepreneurs to live music performances and craft/pottery workshops for children. Pet lovers had a special treat with an adoption drive, and older community members could also participate in various activities, ensuring the festival was inclusive and engaging for all age groups. The RichLang Habba was a wonderful celebration of community, sustainability, and local talent.
