Chief Minister Siddaramaiah took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, reiterating that the BJP bigwig had allegedly made false accusations about the five guarantees of the Congress State government and corruption. He made the remarks during a public meeting held by Congress in Sandur town of Ballari district. It was the CM’s first visit after the Congress’ by-election victory in Sandur last month. He made a similar visit to Shiggaon town in Haveri district, another seat they won. He was accompanied by Deputy CM DK Shivakumar and other Cabinet colleagues.
Annapoorna, the wife of Ballari MP E Tukaram, had won Sandur while party man Yasir Ahmed Khan Pathan emerged victorious in Shiggaon. “During the campaign, Modi and BJP leaders spread lies. I challenged him to substantiate his allegations, promising to retire from politics if proven wrong. He didn’t respond because he couldn’t,” Siddaramaiah said. The CM also trained his guns on Gangavathi MLA and BJP leader Janardhan Reddy for turning Bellary into a “Republic of fear” and accused him of using money and coercion to manipulate voters. Siddaramaiah also praised former Sandur MLA E Tukaram for bringing “significant development”.
2,000 more houses planned: Housing Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan announced the allocation of 2,000 additional houses in Sandur taluk, following the completion of 2,172 homes. “Sandur, identified as a backward taluk in Nanjundappa's report, will greatly benefit from this initiative. Congress remains committed to improving the lives of Sandur residents,” Khan said.
