Electronic manufacturer Delta Electronics based in Bommasandra on the outskirts of the city, is set to have its name on one of the stations of Namma Metro, it was announced on Monday. An agreement with the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) and the Taiwanese firm was formed on Monday. To obtain naming rights of a metro station, a funding of at least Rs. 65 crore is needed, and if available, land parcels may be transferred to the BMRCL.

This is the third such station to have naming rights, after Infosys bagged it for the Konapanna Agrahara station, and Biocon bagged the rights for the Hebbagodi station. An initial amount of Rs. 10 crore was received back in March. The pending amount of Rs. 55 crore was settled. The naming rights will remain for 30 years, subject to approval from the State Government. The yellow line, which runs from RV Road to Bommasandra via Electronic City, is undergoing safety tests. It is expected to open early next year. However, delays in procuring coaches for the line may postpone the opening of the line.
