Five teams have won the “Namma Bengaluru Challenge” conducted by Unboxing BLR in collaboration with Zerodha founder Nikhil Kamath’s WT fund, in their visionary ideas to solve issues in the city. A grant of Rs 10 lakh was handed over to the winning teams here on Sunday.

Ideas that are grounded in sustainability and in the contention of developing the city were shortlisted for this prize. Out of 600 registrations, 16 ideas were shortlisted, out of which eight were taken to the final. The Waterbody Revitalisation project aims to address the issue of untreated sewage, industrial waste and severe pollution in the water bodies of Bengaluru. The Mahila Shakti Electric Auto Driving Training program aims to bridge the gap for a safe and secure Bengaluru.

Another plan, the Sustainable Waste Management plan is to make citizens responsible for the waste they generate. The plan also mandates less than one per cent of waste is sent to landfills. Finally, the Anahat Foundation came up with the idea of a transparent and government-approved auto rickshaw service and making healthcare accessible for the urban poor.
