Bengaluru: If all goes well, the students of 28 government schools in Sarvagnanagar Assembly constituency will have smart classes within the next 15 days.
On Monday Sarvagnanagar MLA KJ George handed over smart class equipment to the officials of the public instruction department at a function organized at Karnataka Public School, Banaswadi. “I am an alumnus of a government school. The quality of education at government schools is good but we have to focus on providing the necessary infrastructure. My aim is to improve the quality of teaching by providing the necessary amenities at government schools,’’ said MLA KJ George.
The MLA said that it would not be possible for the government to provide all amenities at government schools. “I have constructed class rooms at government schools during my first tenure as a MLA. My priority is to renovate and upgrade government schools and anganwadi centers in my assembly constituency. I have instructed headmasters and public instruction department officials to commence smart classes in 15 days,’’ the MLA said.
Thanking the MLA for renovating Karnataka Public School and facilitating smart class equipment, Mangala Gowri K, headmistress said the smart class equipment would be of great help to students of 5th standard to 9th standard. “There are 625 students (from LKG to 9th standard) in our school. Our school was renovated last year. They provided new benches and desks for students. Today, they gave me a TV set apart from study material,’’ said Mangala Gowri.
Anand P, headmaster, Government Primary School, Jeevanahalli said the school building was renovated last year. “The smart class equipment will help students of 5th, 6th and 7th standards. There are around 120 students in our school,’’ said Anand.
Meanwhile, Sachin Rao, IT Head, CLT India, said that all the 28 schools selected for smart classes would be provided with android TV sets.
“These television sets do not require Internet connectivity. So, the students can attend smart classes even if the respective school building do not have Internet connectivity,’’ said Sachin Rao, adding that CLT India has signed an agreement with Sarvagna Health Care Institute to provide state education department approved curriculum content to the students concerned.
