Yaduveer: Royal family targeted more after I was elected MP

Mysuru: Mysuru-Kodagu BJP MP Yaduveer Wadiyar on Thursday claimed that he and the Mysuru royal family were targeted more after he became MP. Speaking to reporters, he asserted that the CM's name can be given to any other road in the city and opposed the MCC’s proposal to rename KRS Road after Siddaramaiah saying it is called 'Princess Road' for a significant reason. As princess Krishanajamanni and her daughters died from tuberculosis, one of the sisters of the Maharaja of Mysuru, Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar had constructed PKTB Sanitorium and Tuberculosis Hospital on KRS Road in memory of her sister.
Since then, this stretch has been identified as Princess Road, he said adding that there are even records of this stretch identified as Princess Road in the postal and Indian railway museum official websites since 1912. As this road has emotional connections with the royal family, the MCC should name some other road after CM Siddaramaiah, he said. Reacting to his party's leader Pratap Simha supporting renaming the stretch after Siddaramaiah, Yaduveer remarked, “ I believe the former MP has forgotten the history of Mysuru Kingdom.” Chamaraja Congress MLA K Harishgowda stated that there is no question of going back on the decision to rename the road.
This stretch will be named after Siddaramaih after clearing all legal hurdles as he has immensely contributed a lot to the improvement of Mysuru, he said. Meanwhile, an online petition was launched against renaming the part of KRS road after Siddaramaiah.
