Bengaluru: The Brigade Foundation, the CSR arm of Brigade Group, announced a generous donation of Rs 50 lakh to three beneficiaries: Dr Rao’s NGO Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre (WRRC), Jeevan Dhara Foundation, and Cyte Care. The announcement was made during the ‘Passion with Compassion’ programme, an event dedicated to celebrating humanitarian efforts and inspiring the next generation of compassionate leaders. The event, held for graduating students of the three Brigade Schools, began with an invocation and the lighting of the lamp, setting a serene tone for the evening. Githa Shankar, the Founder of Brigade Schools, felicitated Dr. Shiela Rao for her remarkable contributions to animal welfare.

Dr Rao, a veteran of veterinary sciences and co-founding trustee of Compassion Unlimited Plus Action (CUPA), has tirelessly worked to promote the humane treatment of animals. In her keynote address, Dr Rao emphasised the importance of compassion and the collective responsibility of building a humane world. “Protecting our wildlife and environment is not optional—it’s essential,” she remarked.

The programme also featured cultural performances, including a dance sequence by students from The Brigade School @ Malleswaram that celebrated the essence of Mother Earth through classical Indian dance forms. Additionally, the Junior School Choir from The Brigade School @ Mahadevapura performed the song In This Together, delivering a powerful message about unity in protecting the planet. Shankar encouraged students to excel academically while also understanding the importance of community service, stating, “Our quality of life improves when we uplift others.”
