Bommanahalli police arrested two people, including a police constable, on charges of raping a minor girl who had approached the police station to lodge a complaint, under the guise of offering assistance.
Police said that Arun, who was working as a constable at Bommanahalli police station, and the victim's friend were arrested and remanded in judicial custody based on a complaint filed by the minor's mother. The 17-year-old victim resided in the vicinity of the Bommanahalli police station. During this time, she encountered a married man living nearby, who enticed her with promises of love and marriage, ultimately subjecting her to repeated sexual assaults. The victim disclosed these incidents to her mother, as detailed in the complaint filed with the Bommanahalli police.
Constable Arun, who was supposed to assist the victim in filing her complaint, allegedly misled her by promising justice and a job. The complaint further alleges that the constable summoned the girl to an OYO room in BTM Layout last December, where he raped her after administering alcohol and other drugs. The victim's mother also claimed in her complaint that the constable threatened to disseminate private videos of the victim on social media if she revealed the incidents to anyone. The MICO Layout police, having registered a case against the two under various sections of the POCSO and BNS Act, subsequently transferred the case to the Bommanahalli police station due to the crime's location. The Bommanahalli police have confirmed that they have conducted an investigation, arrested the accused and sent them to Parappana Agrahara jail.
