Bengaluru: The CCB police arrested two foreign nationals who were residing in India unlawfully after the expiration of their visas. The police reported the arrest of both the Argentine and Brazilian nationals, who had traveled to Bengaluru for modeling purposes and were residing in a rented accommodation at Ananda Nagar in Hebbal.
An FIR has been filed at the Hebbal police station against the landlord of the rented property and the representative of the modeling agency for failing to notify the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) or the local police regarding the presence of foreign nationals and for not securing the necessary C form. The modeling agency representative had facilitated the entry of both individuals under a business visa. However, they remained in India beyond the validity of their visas, said the police.
According to the Indian Foreigners Act, landlords or those managing properties rented to foreigners are required to submit the details of the respective nationals, including passport and visa information, on Indianfrro.gov.in within 24 hours. Subsequently, they must obtain a C form from the FRRO. To date, 70 cases have been registered against property owners who have breached this regulation. Of these, 42 cases are currently in the trial phase, while 26 are under investigation. A conviction has been secured in one case filed at the Bandepalya police station, said City Police Commissioner B. Dayanand.
