Bengaluru: The investigation led by DGP Ramachandra Rao into a breach of decorum at Kempegowda International Airport has reached its conclusion, and the report will soon be presented to the government by the team led by Gowrav Gupta.
This inquiry addresses violations of decorum regulations, with the investigative team comprising officials such as head constable Basavaraju and constable Dhanush from the airport intelligence division, who have questioned over 20 individuals and recorded their statements. The focus of the investigation was to collect information regarding the decorum protocols that were expected to be adhered to in relation to actress Ranya Rao, as well as to determine which senior officials were responsible for escorting her from the airport. On Monday, the investigation team questioned Ramachandra Rao for two hours at the Shakti Bhavan office located on Race Course Road. Sources suggest that he was asked several questions, including, "Did you instruct anyone to provide special decorum for Ranya? Did you arrange for a government vehicle to be dispatched to the airport? Did you personally go to the airport to escort Ranya?" Ramachandra is reported to have answered "no" to these questions.
In connection with the breach of decorum, the investigation team has collected CCTV footage, statements from Ranya Rao, and Ramachandra Rao, and mobile call records of the airport personnel. Actor Ranya Rao was arrested by DRI officials on March 3 at Kempegowda Airport on allegations of gold smuggling from Dubai. This case has attracted considerable media scrutiny, raising questions about the potential involvement of government officials in facilitating her passage through the airport.
