Complaint filed against CM over remarks on RSS

Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has accused the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) of contributing to the rise in crime rates within the state, a statement that has drawn sharp criticism from Hindu organisations and the BJP. In light of these claims, a private complaint has been lodged against Siddaramaiah at the Special Court for Elected Representatives. The complaint was filed by a person named Kiran S under sections 299, 352, and 356(2) of the Indian Penal Code.
While addressing the Governor's address, CM Siddaramaiah responded to the BJP's assertions regarding a decline in law and order in the state. He supported the Governor's claim that the law and order situation is satisfactory, arguing that under his administration, there has been a reduction in incidents of murder, attempted murder, robbery, theft, and rape compared to the previous government. He provided statistical data on crime rates from 2022 to 2024. Furthermore, he pointed out the recent confiscation of drugs valued at ?75 crores in Mangaluru, stating, "You yourself commended our police for their efforts. We have diligently worked to minimise crime since taking office.
Nevertheless, we are not yet satisfied; our goal is to further lower crime rates. However, it is your affiliates in the RSS who are responsible for the rise in criminal activities," he asserted. This statement has incited considerable backlash from various groups, with critics calling for accountability regarding the allegations directed at their organisations.
