The shocking discovery of a woman’s body stuffed in a BBMP garbage truck near Channammanakere Achukattu in the city, has taken a dramatic turn. Police have identified the victim as Pushpa alias Asha, a Hindu woman who had married a man from another community man a few years ago against her family’s wishes.
Pushpa, a resident of Hulimavu, had been living with her husband in the city. According to police sources, the couple’s relationship had been strained for some time with frequent domestic quarrels. The partially naked body had initially sparked suspicion of sexual assault and murder.
Preliminary investigations now point to a possible case of domestic violence turning fatal. Police suspect that Pushpa’s husband may have killed her at their Hulimavu residence and then disposed of her body in a garbage truck to destroy evidence. The CCTV footage and phone location data indicate that a two-wheeler was allegedly used to transport the body and dump it at the Channammanakere site in the early hours.
The horrific murder came to light after a local man, who came to dump garbage, noticed strands of hair sticking out of a sack and alerted the police.
