Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday offered the customary bagina to river Cauvery at Krishnaraja Sagar (KRS) dam in Srirangapatna taluk of Mandya district on Monday. He was the first first CM to offer bagina at KRS during June as the dam level reached the brim in June itself for the first time after a gap of 84 years.

He was accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, Mandya District incharge Minister N Chaluvarayaswamy, Social Welfare Minister Dr HC Mahadevappa, MLAs Tanveer Sait, Ramesh Bandisiddegowda, D Ravishankar and Harishgowda. With copious rain in the catchment areas of the Cauvery river basin and in neighbouring Kerala, there was huge inflow into the dams with the KRS dam filled to the maximum for the first time after 1960. Special homas and other rituals were organised near the Cauvery idol.
