The Karnataka High Court on Thursday orally directed Vikas Kumar not to press for reinstatement until the state’s plea challenging the Central Administrative Tribunal’s (CAT) order is disposed of. The CAT had earlier quashed the suspension of several officials held responsible for the stampede during the RCB victory celebration.

A division bench of Justices SG Pandit and TM Nadaf, hearing the government’s petition, also asked whether t h e officers could have been transferred instead and requested documents justifying the suspension.Advocate General Shashikaran Shetty defended the suspensions and said all relevant documents would be submitted.

Vikas Kumar’s counsel said no contempt petition would be filed immediately if the reinstatement did not proceed.
