New Bearys Assn prez vows educational push, unity

Bengaluru: The Bearys Welfare Association, Bengaluru, has appointed Shamsuddin Adoor as its new president. A seasoned adminis trator and community leader Adoor previously served as the association’s Treasurer for 25 years and brings to the role a wealth of experience from his career as a KAS officer and Additional Commissioner of Commercial Taxes, GST.

Established in 1988, the Bearys Welfare Association is the first community organisation for Bearys in Bengaluru. It was formed to bring together members of the community who migrated to the city in search of education, employment, and business opportunities, while preserving their social and cultural identity.

Under Adoor’s leadership, the association is reinforcing its com mitment to educational empowerment, particularly for women. “We intend to promote education, especially among women of the Bearys community,” he said, emphasising that scholarships for students remain a central focus.

One of the association’s major achievements is the Rs 15 crore Beary Souharda Bhavana in HBR Layout; a community facility with a ladies’ hostel, an air-conditioned hall, and other amenities. Revenue generated from the Bhavana is channelled into the as sociation’s education al and welfare projects.

Looking ahead, Adoor has laid out ambitious plans to expand the association’s reach and infrastructure. These include launching a new educational institution either a school or college and establishing an additional office in another part of the city to better serve the growing community.

He also aims to bolster membership by bringing together Beary professionals and entrepreneurs from across Bengaluru. “We want to unite them and encourage them to come under our umbrella and work together for the betterment of the community,” he said.
