Bengaluru: A notorious rowdy sheeter and a drug peddler, who had openly challenged the police on social media to arrest him before he eliminates his two rivals, was caught early Monday by the South division police. He was later arrested by the Hanumanthanagar police.

During the operation, the rowdy, identified as Rahul alias Star Rahul, tried to attack a constable and was shot at on his right leg. Interestingly, he had recently posted a birthday video on Instagram challenging the police to shoot at his knee before he kills his rivals Cycle Ravi and Bakery Raghu and surrender before the court.

In the video, Rahul had even dropped the name of a police officer and said that mamool was reaching everybody and nobody should touch him.

Rahul was a rowdy sheeter in Hanumanthanagar police station, with nearly 19 cases registered against him in various police stations across the city. There are eight warrants against him. He is also wanted by the Hanumanthanagar police in a 200 kilogram ganja drugs case.

He was earlier staying in Thygarajanagar and recently he shifted his house to Bannerghatta area. Rahul is a close associate of another rowdy sheeter Kulla Rizwan.

On Monday, around 4.30 am the police got a tip off that Rahul would be coming to Narayana Nagar in Konanakunte police limits. Sub Inspector Basavaraj Patil along with his team rushed to the area.

“Realising that the policemen have surrounded him, the accused pulled out a lethal weapon and attacked head constable Ningappa. Sub inspector fired in the air to warn the accused to surrender. When Rahul tried attacking other policemen, the sub inspector shot him at his right leg,” said a police officer. Further investigations are on.
