Bengaluru: Former Minister and Holenarasipur JD(S) MLA H.D.Revanna staged a dharna all alone in front of the chief minister’s home office in Bengaluru on Tuesday seeking permission to start PG courses in psychology and food and nutrition at the Government Girls’ Home Science College in Holenarasipur in Hassan district. He preferred to protest alone because of Covid rules. Revanna alleged that Higher Education Minister Dr.C.N.Ashwath Narayana was not giving permission to start these two PG courses even though the top brass of the Higher Education Department have permitted it. He contended that these two courses were required for students from a rural background. In case the government cannot bear the salary or other expenses of lecturers for the two courses, the same would be borne through the temporary CDC or from his own pocket, he said. Meanwhile, Dr Ashwath Narayana ruled out giving permission for the starting of the two new courses and said there is a cap on allowing new courses in government colleges since the last two years. So, it would not be possible to have these two courses in the Hassan college, he added.
