Karnataka BC panel convenes meet on survey report

Bengaluru.

The Karnataka State Backward Classes Commission convened a meeting on Wednesday to discuss the submission of the social, educational and economic survey report to the state government, sources said. This comes against the backdrop of strong speculation doing rounds in the political circle about the change of guard in the state.

Speculations have it that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah would resign in the next couple of days and pave the way for his deputy D K Shivakumar to take the reins of the state. The meeting pertaining to the backward classes that was supposed to take place in the next three to four days has been convened on Wednesday, government sources said.

The social, educational and economic survey conducted by the commission is expected to have a bearing on policies related to backward classes in the state. This report is crucial as Siddaramaiah's politics revolved around 'AHINDA', an acronym for minorities, backward classes and Dalits. Sources said that the CM might give his nod to the commission report.
