Comprehensive development of Bengaluru ORR will be finalised after consulting residents: Minister
Bengaluru,
Minister for Greater Bengaluru Development, Krishna Byre Gowda, has said that the design for the comprehensive development of the Outer Ring Road (ORR) in the city will be finalised after consulting residents. The minister said this after inspecting the stretch from Lowry Junction to Iblur Junction with officials late on Thursday, in connection with the proposed comprehensive road development work from Silk Board Junction to Byappanahalli Metro Station, his office said in a statement.
Gowda said that the ORR is one of the busiest roads in the city; Chief Minister D K Shivakumar intends to reconstruct and modernise the road at an estimated cost of Rs 400-450 crore. However, before beginning the road development work, it is essential to identify effective solutions to the area's traffic congestion problems. Since the ORR is lined with a large number of apartment complexes, companies, and commercial establishments, the road design must be prepared after a thorough study of the local conditions, he said.
Accordingly, once the draft design is ready, consultations will be held with residents before the final design is approved, he added. According to the Ministry, the inspection conducted on Thursday has provided a clear understanding of the current condition of the road. Based on these findings, the road design will be finalised, and the development work will commence after obtaining the necessary approvals, he added.
