SDPI demands implementation of caste survey recommendations
Bengaluru
The Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) held a protest on Wednesday to demand that the Congress-led Karnataka government implement the social and educational survey report recommendations, fulfil its pre-election promise of reinstating the OBC-2B reservation and increasing it to 8% and other demands.
President Abdul Majeed said, “If the Congress doesn’t fulfil its promises, we will not be quiet. We have given the CM a memorandum. In future, we will take it to the community in every district. We will announce injustices of the government in every village. In every future election that comes, we will target the government in such a manner.”
During Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai’s tenure, the BJP-led government had removed OBC 2B category reservation for Muslims and the Congress had promised that it would reinstate it. SDPI demanded that the government fulfil its promise and increase the reservation to 8%.
It promised that the Social and Educational Survey popularly known as the caste survey would be carried out, as also Equal Opportunities Commission would be established.
