Bengaluru, Jan. 22 This case is no different from the plot of any commercial movie. Frustrated after his lover left him to be with her husband, the 40-year-old spurned lover decided to kidnap her brother to force her to come back. However, his plans backfired and he along with his six others was arrested by the crime squad of the Vijaynagar sub-division.
The main accused has been identified as Srinivas alias Bottu Seena, 40, a resident of Hegganahalli Cross. Srinivas used to seize vehicles for money lenders for non-payment of loans. He along with his associates had kidnapped Venkatesh, 27, who is the brother of Kavya, the alleged lover of the accused.
Venkatesh is a lorry driver by profession and stays at Vasanthappa Layout on Andrahalli Main Road.
After the kidnapping, they made Venkatesh call his sister requesting her to go back to her lover. The gang had threatened to kill him if he did not make the request. The police were informed about the kidnapping and they managed to rescue the brother by arresting the spurned lover and his associates.
“Kavya, 23, got married to Sandeep Kumar around three years ago. She works in a garment factory and has children. She along with her family were staying at Andrahalli off the Magadi main road. While going to work, she happened to befriend Srinivas and later fell in love. Around six months ago, Kavya eloped with Srinivas,” said a police officer. After staying with Srinivas for three-months their relationship soured and she returned to her husband. Srinivas could not come to terms with this and wanted her back at any cost.
Realising that she is very close to her brother, Venkatesh, the main accused and others kidnapped him from his house on Thursday from Bydarahalli area.
The incident came to light after Venkatesh called Kavya and explained about his plight. Kavya informed the matter to the police.
“Kavya used to have heated arguments with Srinivas over trivial issues. She then found out that her husband is a better partner for her. On January 17, she had an argument with Srinivas and left him,” the officer added.
The police had registered a case of kidnapping (IPC 363) and punishment for criminal intimidation (IPC 506) against the accused. The Byadarahalli police have registered a case.
