The wife of former IT minister Priyank Kharge has been the victim of mobile phone theft near her house in the upscale Sadashivanagar area.

The incident happened on Sunday morning when Shruthi Kharge was returning home after a morning walk. Two bikeborne miscreants came from behind and snatched her phone (iPhone 11) and fled.

Kharge, who represents Chittapura assembly constituency in Kalaburagi district, has filed a complaint with the police. The MLA told NOT that the theft happened around 7 am. “My wife was talking to her mother on the phone. The miscreants who came from behind snatched her phone and escaped. In the incident, there was a small scratch on her neck. Apart from this, there are no other injuries nor any physical attack,” Kharge added.

Shruthi used to go alone for morning walks, and the police suspect the miscreants might have observed that. Sadashivanagar police have registered a case.
