Mobile repair technician, aide held for robbery

Bengaluru: A 38-year-old mobile repair technician who was an expert in erasing the data and tampering the IMEI numbers of stolen mobile phones has been arrested along with his associate by the VV Puram Police. In order to cover up his crime, the accused had opened a mobile repair shop and was repairing defunct phones of customers.

However, his other associate, who was a thief, was getting the mobile phones to the shop after robbing them from the victims. After tampering with the mobile’s security features, the two were selling mobiles at cheaper rates.

The mobile technician has been identified as Hafeez Sherrief, a resident of Kanakanagar and his associate is Mohammed Salman, 30, of Valmiki Nagar.
