For mer CM and Janata Dal (Secu l a r ) l e a d e r, H.D.Kumaraswamy said his wife Anitha Kumaraswamy is unlikely to contest from Ramanagara in the 2023 Assembly elections.

He hinted at his son, Nikhil Kumaraswamy contesting from Ramanagar in the coming election.

In an interaction with various Kannada organisations here on Wednesday, Kumaraswamy said Anitha was compelled to contest from Ramanagar as he wanted to contest from neighbouring Channapatna constituency. Besides, there was pressure on his family that Anitha Kumaraswamy must be given the Ramanagar ticket. But she may not contest the coming Assembly election from Ramanagar, he added.

Meanwhile, Nikhil has started becoming active in Ramanagar and is frequently visiting the constituency and interacting with local people. He has built a young team of workers who visit the villages regularly. Nikhil accompanies his mother for functions in the constituency, said sources.
