With an increase in the number of mobile snatching incidents in Bengaluru, the residents are now keeping a tighter vigil.

Recently, the residents of JJ Nagar nabbed two accused as they were trying to snatch mobile phone from a middle-aged woman while she was crossing the road.

The accused were then handed over to the police station. Police identified the accused as Mubarak and Mujahid.

According to a complaint, on February 2 two accused on a scooter rode towards a woman to snatch her mobile phone at around 5:30 pm in JJ Nagar police station limits. As the woman raised an alarm, passersby and residents came to her rescue and nabbed the duo.

After further investigating the case, on February 6, JJ Nagar police arrested another accused, identified as Khaiser. The police said they have seized 86 mobile phones and a scooter from the accused.

Further investigations are underway, police said.

It may be recalled that on Sunday, the wife of former IT minister Priyank Kharge was robbed of her mobile phone near her house in Sadashivanagar.

The incident happened when Shruthi Kharge was returning home after a morning walk. While she was talking on her phone, two bike-borne miscreants came from behind and snatched her phone and fled.

Kharge, who represents Chittapura assembly constituency in Kalaburagi district, has filed a complaint with the police.
