Are you one of those who take the initiative of keeping the miscreants away from your residential area? If so, you have to be careful before telling wayward boys to keep away from your area.

Anju Lal, a resident of Nandi Durga Road Extension has to pay heavily for allegedly chiding some people squatting on the vacant space near the water tank even after 10 pm.

On Thursday night, some unknown people had smashed her car’s windshield with stones. Anju was not at home when the incident took place.

“It is the second time my car has been damaged. Earlier, I spent Rs 15,000 to repair my car. Now, I am not sure about the amount to be spent. I have advised automobile showroom people to take my vehicle as I am out of station,’’ says Anju Lal.

She said she had to leave town on Thursday night and some people may have seen her walking out of her house with a suitcase. “Some people are against me as I don’t let them hang out with their boyfriends or girlfriends late into the night. I make people pick up their garbage and I make them quieter after 10 pm. This is the reason why they hate me,’’ she said.

She said that a complaint was lodged online with the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) who was kind enough to send a police inspector to visit the spot on Friday morning. “I hope the police will act tough against those responsible for breaking my car windshield,” she said.

Meanwhile, the residents of Nandi Durga Road Extension have complained that a lot of strangers are visiting the area every day. “Many robberies took place in the recent past. I want the police to step up vigil during the night to prevent strangers wandering on the streets and lanes,” said a resident pleading anonymity.

She said the lack of CCTV cameras has become an advantage for the strangers to get away after committing crime.
