‘Remove police uniform and become BJP workers’; DKS fumes at police officials

Taking the police department to task for dancing to the tunes of the ruling party, KPCC President D.K.Shivakumar said he would talk to the police top brass to instruct police personnel to ‘remove their uniforms and work as BJP workers’.

Talking to reporters here on Saturday, Shivakumar said the police instead of filing a case of sedition against Rural Development & Panchayat Raj Minister K.S.Eshwarappa for insulting the Tricolour, have registered a case against those who went to stage a black flag demonstration. Hundreds of people can gather to welcome Eshwarappa but the police will book cases against those who go to stage demonstrations. What kind of administration is this, he wondered?

Shivakumar said the overnight dharna demanding the resignation of Eshwarappa would continue and they would not allow the Houses to conduct proceedings till the minister is sacked. It is the Congress Party which got the country freedom and give the national flag, national anthem and the Constitution, he reminded those present.

“The government is free to book a case against us for using the national flag during the agitation inside the Assembly Hall. What’s preventing them from filing the case? But before that, they should book a sedition case against Eshwarappa for insulting the national flag. The Congress Party will hold protest rallies across the state on February 21 in all district and taluk headquarters by holding the Tricolour. They will submit a memorandum to the district or taluk administration to pressurise the government to book a case against Eshwarappa. We know that Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai is impartial but he is acting like a puppet in the hands of someone. He is not discharging his duty as CM and not acting according to the oath taken in the name of Constitution”, Shivakumar said.
