Steps are being taken to bring home students from Karnataka who are stranded in Ukraine, said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.

He told reporters here on Thursday that many Indian students were stuck in Ukraine adding that the war broke out between Ukraine and Russia at a time when students were heading to the airport. About 100 students were stranded in two buses. More than 10 of them are Kannadigas. “We are getting complete information about them. We are in constant touch with the Indian Embassy in Ukraine,” he said.

“The Indian Embassy in Ukraine has issued suitable guidelines for the safety of Indian students. Action is being taken to bring them back safely once flight services resume. We are in constant touch with the Foreign Secretary and I will discuss it with our External Affairs Minister too,” the CM said.

About 200 Indians returned home from Ukraine last week under the shadow of war. The students are returning in batches and this was the last batch. Students from Karnataka would be brought home safely, Bommai said.
