Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai called on his predecessor and veteran BJP leader B.S.Yediyurappa on his 79th birthday on Sunday.

The CM felicitated him and said Yediyurappa is a rare politician who never goes back on his word. The veteran BJP leader has given several welfare schemes for the upliftment of the poor. His contribution to the installation of the BJP government in south India is immense, Bommai said. “Yediyurappa grew from the grassroots and built the party from scratch touring across the state. He has immense concern for farmers and had implemented several programmes. As CM, he distributed bicycles among girl students, distributed Bhagyalakshmi bonds, ensured free power for farmers’ IP sets and waived farm loans. The schemes implemented by him, helped the BJP come to power in Karnataka. He is keen on bringing the saffron party back to power in the 2023 Assembly elections and even the incumbent government is run under his guidance”, Bommai said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP National President J.P. Nadda were among the important leaders who greeted Yediyurappa on his birthday.
