Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai spoke to a group of medical students from Karnataka who are stuck in war-hit Ukraine, over phone and listened to their woes.
The students reportedly told the CM that they have reached a place 30 km from Kharkiv city which is being bombarded by Russian forces and are currently safe. Bommai told them to be brave as he had already spoken to External Affairs Minister Jaishankar about getting them safely evacuated. “Our govt is making all efforts to bring all of you safely to the state,” the CM told the students.
Around 200 students from Karnataka are still stranded in Ukraine. Gagan Gowda, a Bengaluru-based student spoke to the CM on behalf of the others. Food and Civil Supplies Minister K.Gopalaiah was present during the interaction.
