Labourer falls to death from second floor

A 47-year-old construction worker died allegedly after he accidentally fell from the temporary stairs of a three-storeyed underconstruction building in Nagarabhavi.

The deceased has been identified as Elumalai, a native of Tamil Nadu. He was staying in the same premises with other workers. His family lives in Tamil Nadu while he stayed alone here.

A case of death due to negligence has been registered against the owner, engineer and supervisor of the building.

The incident occurred on Tuesday evening. While he was descending the stairs made of wooden planks, they collapsed and he fell on the ground floor from the second floor. The other workers rushed him to a private hospital where he succumbed on Wednesday morning.

The police found that safety measures were not in place.

Annapurneshwari Nagar police registered the case and are investigating it in detail.
