JD(S) leaders take credit for my work, laments Sumalatha

Taking a dig at Janata Dal (Secular) MLAs, Mandya Lok Sabha member Sumalatha Ambareesh said they (MLAs) have decided to oppose whatever she does and are politicising everything as they are unable to digest her growing popularity.

Talking to reporters in Mysuru on Wednesday, Sumalatha said that in Mandya, leaders are more keen on claiming credit than doing work. She said she would not be able to keep quiet if somebody said she had not done any work. “I will not work just for the sake of credit. I do not know why they are afraid to tell the truth. Those who have started the ‘credit war’ must know their responsibility. I don’t know why they are trying to take credit for the work done by an MP”.

Sumalatha also said she had visited the place where an agitation is going on over Shimsha bridge and had written to Union Surface Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari besides meeting him four times. Anyone can write letters on the issue but she was not aware what they have written to the Union Minister, she added.

She also said she has requested railway authorities to stop trains at KR Nagar, KR Pet and Srirangapatna taluk headquarters. Her dream is to promote Srirangapatna as a favourite tourist destination. “I have asked the divisional railway officials to stop trains at Srirangapatna station between Pandavapura and Naganahalli stations,’’ she said.

On the evacuation of Indians stranded in war-hit Ukraine, she opined that it was not an easy job to airlift them during the raging war between Russia and Ukraine. “I know about the functioning of the External Affairs Ministry. Every issue must not be politicised,” she added.
