Vasavi: Offering dialysis at affordable rates

Vasavi Health Care has been serving patients suffering from renal diseases for the last 12 years, and recently the dialysis centre of the hospital has completed more than 1 lakh dialysis. “We have been providing dialysis for economically poor patients at subsidized cost.

Earlier, we used to collect Rs 600 per dialysis from the patients, but recently we have increased it to Rs 650. We have to spend Rs 980 per dialysis,” said Hongirana Trust secretary R.P. Ravishankar, adding that Hongirana Trust members are grateful to Malleswaram MLA and Minister Dr C.N. Ashwathnarayan for playing a key role in getting BBMP land for lease to construct Vasavi Health Care building.

Located at Palace Guttahalli, Vasavi Health Care has 15 dialysis machines. During weekdays it functions in two shifts – 4.30 am to 8.30 am and from 8.30 am to 2 pm and Sunday is a holiday.

The dialysis centre has been a great help for people, not just from Palace Guttahalli, but also from other areas. “I have been on dialysis for two years. My wife used to work at a factory which was shut down due to Covid pandemic. Earlier, I, as a dependent, used to have dialysis at ESI Hospital. With the factory shut down and no contribution from the employer to the ESI scheme, my wife’s health card became invalid. It made me come all the way here from Mathikere,’’ said C Rajendran.

Hongirana Trust president Dr P N Govindarajulu has said Vasavi Health Care was inaugurated by the then Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda. “Initially, we tried to have a tie-up with dialysis centres at KC General Hospital and Lady Curzon and Bowring Hospital but later decided to have our own centre to reach a large number of people,’’ said Govindarajulu.
