Seeking justice, old man attempts suicide in front of CM

Alleging injustice by the police, an old man tried to commit suicide in front of Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai near his residence in RT Nagar in Bengaluru on Friday.

According to sources, the man came to meet the CM during the Janata Darshan and poured out his woes before him saying that he had been meted out injustice by the police inspector of Annapoorneshwari Nagar Police Station. He broke down before Bommai and took out a bottle containing some liquid allegedly to commit suicide.

The CM’s security staff swung into action and snatched the bottle containing the coloured water from him. Later, the old man alleged that the police inspector along with others had cheated him over a piece of land. The officer had refused to investigate the matter despite providing the details in writing, he claimed.

The CM promised to take necessary action in this regard and ensure justice.
