The current wet spell of summer showers is likely to continue for a few more days in Namma Bengaluru. A weather advisory from IMD (India Meteorological Department) has stated that most parts of the city and surrounding areas are likely to experience heavy rainfall for the next three days.
According to the reports, the wet spell is due to a depression over the north Andaman Sea, which is expected to intensify into a cyclone. Bengaluru recorded 7.7 mm rainfall on Monday and the temperature was normal with 33 degree Celsius.
IMD scientist Sadananda Adiga told News Trail, “The summer shower activity will continue this week. The conditions are favourable for it at present. The normal pattern is that the summer showers continue for a few days and the sky remains overcast for another few days.”
It is also claimed that a high alert has been sounded in the coastal and Malnad districts of the state. The wet spell caused by the depression may cause rain, accompanied with thunder and lightning, till Thursday. The IMD has issued a yellow alert in seven districts - Uttara Kannada, Shivamogga, Udupi, Chikkamagaluru, Dakshina Kannada and Haasan.
“Rain is also expected in the northern districts of Gadag, Haveri, Dharwad, Belagavi and Raichur on Thursday and Friday. An orange warning has been issued for Dakshina Kannada,” says IMD statement.
