Siddarammayanahundi, a hamlet in Mysuru taluk wore a festive look on Friday following the jathra mahotsav of the village deity
The festival looked all the more attractive thanks to the participation of Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Siddaramaiah with his entire family. Attired in a spotless white dhoti, white cotton shirt and a silk shalya, Siddaramaiah hogged the limelight. His friends, relatives, family members and villagers had gathered in large numbers to see the ‘Huliya’ in action.
Siddaramaiah’s wife, Parvathi Siddaramaiah, Varuna MLA Dr Yatindra Siddaramaiah, family of late Rakesh Siddaramaiah and grandchildren participated in the jathra.
The former CM did not disappoint the villagers with his traditional dance, gyrating to the tune of a rustic village band. As the dancing session was in progress, Siddaramaiah lifted his dhoti and tied it at the knee and continued dancing with his school mates. Youth present also joined in and caught the attention of the former CM.
The Congress Legislature Party(CLP) leader mingled with his classmates and went down memory lane recalling how they spent time together in school. The former CM will stay overnight at the recently constructed house at his native place and also attend a slew of programmes in Mysuru, Hunsur and other places. He is expected to return to Bengaluru on Monday to attend the remaining three days of the budget session.
