Health Dept will not issue halal certificate: Minister

Health & Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar said his department will not issue any certificate pertaining to the sale of halal cut meat to the public.

He clarified here on Monday that the issue of halal certificate does not come under the purview of his department. The department issues the food safety certificate depending on the quality of food items, the minister clarified.

On the issue of lifting the mask rule in the state, the minister said three states have already lifted the mask rule due to zero Corona cases. However, there is also a discussion on a possible fourth wave in some states. In fact, 90 per cent of people in Karnataka have stopped wearing the mask in public places, he said.
