The state government will take all measures to make learning of Kannada compulsory for undergraduate students, said Minister for Higher Education, IT & BT, and Skill Development Dr CN Ashwath Narayan.

Speaking with media persons on the sidelines of an event to launch the logo and curtain raiser of Sanjeevini Saras Mela 2022 here on Wednesday, the minister said the government, as far as the National Education Policy (NEP) is concerned, would make all submissions in the court to make Kannada compulsory for undergraduate students. “Our government will take all measures to ensure prominence for Kannada in the state,’’ the minister said.

On terror groups

The minister said that terror groups cannot interfere with state government’s decisions and policies. “We will solve all the issues and there is no need for terror groups to interfere with the government’s policies and orders. We have not brought in a new law or issued a new order but are merely implementing existing laws,’’ the minister said, adding that government would take measures to punish those associated with terror groups.
