Bengaluru Urban District authorities have reclaimed two acres of government land worth Rs 6 crore near Karpur village of Anekal taluk. It was reclaimed from a private builder, who had constructed a tennis court and a swimming pool on the land meant for a road between Karpur and Bidaragere villages.
It is stated that Bidaragere villagers have been running from pillar to post and also complaining to the authorities against the encroachment of government land by a private builder. “I want to appreciate the people of Bidaragere for not only bringing to the authorities’ notice about the encroachment of government land but also pressuring the authorities concerned to reclaim the land meant for public purpose,” said Karpur Village Panchayat president D Raju.
A team of revenue officials led by Anekal Tahsildar Dinesh visited the spot on Friday and demolished the swimming pool and a tennis court. “The land on which the private builder constructed the swimming pool and a tennis court belongs to the government. A portion of the apartment complex is constructed on government land. We will demolish the building after issuing notices to the residents,” said Dinesh.
The tahsildar said that the swimming pool and the tennis court were demolished as part of the weekly drive against encroachment of government land, lakes and storm water drains in Anekal taluk. “Our drive will continue to reclaim the government land that was occupied by private people,” the tahsildar said.
Meanwhile, a resident has claimed that the residential apartments (The Greens Anekal) were constructed by Sanchaya Land and Estates Private Limited and there are many complaints against the builder for non-compliance of the sale agreement.
The Greens Buyers’ Association president Raghu K.C. told News Trail that the builder has failed to honour the commitment of completing the construction work on time. “I have paid Rs 15 lakh for a residential flat but the builder is yet to handover the flat to me. The builder has allegedly collected Rs 350 crore from the buyers and constructed around 300 flats without basic amenities. Only 50 per cent of the construction work is completed of around 900 flats. The builder has allegedly collected Rs 100 crore for constructing 650 flats in the Phase II of the project but did nothing,” he said, adding that complaints were lodged with Karnataka Real Estate Regulatory Authority against the builder but no action was initiated by the authorities against the builder.
He said a case pertaining to four acres of land is pending in the Court of Additional Senior Civil Judge, Anekal against the builder.
